Sometimes, someone’s story can inspire and also give you that moment when you listen and gasp and say, “me too!”

We both collectively had that reaction to everything Rebecca Sweet shared with us in our laid back and lovely get together at Fido. She was warm, open, personable and passionate about her lifestyle blog and about life in general. She told us all about why she started Sweet Ladi Jane hoping that her experiences and obstacles could be something she could share with others while inspiring them and because of that she does.

Caroline Hobby

You know when you meet someone and you feel like you’ve known them for a long time?

Cue Caroline Hobby, whose friendly effervescence was both comforting and contagious. She welcomed us with open arms and margaritas at Bartaco as we discussed inspiration, fears, and her podcast. She’s just like us which means she’s just like you and she’s as genuine as they come.  We stayed longer than we thought we ever would because it felt like we belonged right there soaking up the sunshine and the moments while sipping another round of margaritas with our new friend. We loved her so much that we listened to her podcast on the ride home with our sides still sore from all that laughter. We’re smiling just thinking about it now and hope you feel that to when you watch our video and listen to her podcast.

A woman who is so comfortable in her own skin and unapologetic in the most beautiful way that she inspired us every moment we spent with her at The Post East that sunny June morning. We shared girl talk and life chats full of laughter over lattes and bullseyes with her witty wisdom that remained with us long after we left. The Post East quickly became our go to spot for lunch and recharging and relaxing for the rest of our time on the road. Her voice is like velvet and her vibes are contagious and she owns it and does it and lives life 150% authentically.

Aaron Parker

Tips for having coffee with a cowboy: Ok, there actually are no tips because you’ll instantly be smitten.

 You’ll be nervous and starry eyed and giggly. You’ll want to ask about his hat and then not know what else to say but then immediately know what to say because he’ll make you feel so kind and comfortable. Trust us, all of the above happened when we met Aaron (and his hat) at 8th and Roast and had coffee and conversation and he played us one of his songs. He played us one of his songs by an old mansion under a big magnolia tree. I know, we wouldn’t believe it happened either if we didn’t have this video to prove it. We still get all giddy thinking about that dreamy morning and are so inspired by him and his talent. Get ready to swoon to be inspired by him too.

Swamp Rabbit Inn, Greenville SC

Have you ever been to a place that if you blinked you’d believe it was a dream? That is how we felt about the Swamp Rabbit Inn located in Greenville SC. Our storybook sleepover started the minute we pulled up to this charming house and the magic we were greeted with inside tugged on our heartstrings the entire 24 hours we were there. Yes, just 24 hours but sometimes it only takes a moment for a place to make an impact and the Swamp Rabbit Inn did just that.  It’s hard to find words to capture how we feel about this place so we hope our video and photos show you how special it was to us and inspire you to go experience some magic of your own.

Pot N’ Kettle Cottages

Franklin, TN.

If you’ve ever tried to imagine what that typical small-town-in-the-middle-of-mountains that is just quintessentially Americana to the core, well then, you’ve imagined Franklin, TN. Located just outside of the bustling city of Nashville sits this beautiful countryside. Sprawling greenery with horses and cows and large country homes of many country world celebrities dot the landscape, and outstretched sunsets, and fireflies light the sky at dusk.

 

Tin Roof Cottage. We honestly can’t even explain this place in words. Our oasis for our stay outside of Nashville looked like an Anthropologie catalogue come to life, and we found our eyes and hearts going in every direction trying to film and photograph and enjoy this place.

Franklin, TN

We heard so many great things about the downtown Franklin area, and so we knew we had to explore a little! We ended up going into White’s Mercantile, which is literally a little slice of American heaven on earth! We fluttered around the store, finding gems of products that we talked each other into needing. The shop keepers chatted with us as we gushed for a good hour, and sent us off with business cards scribbled on the back with personal recommendations of where to visit in the surrounding area of Franklin. We then made our 4th [or 5th] stop into Frothy Monkey (our favorite coffee shop in Nashville) where we indulged in iced coffees (Maya’s pick: Lavender Orange, Sarah’s pick: Coconut Cream).

Puckett’s Grocery. A smaller village within Franklin is Leiper’s Fork, and in the center of this one-road town is Puckett’s Grocery. There’s a smoker billowing with smoke, making the whole main street hazy. Men in overalls and trucker hats sit on benches and at picnic tables, a large dog pants keeping cool in the Tennessee heat. Inside, theres a simple food line where we ordered our Meat and Three. The food is simple–not one frill. We sat at a table in the dimly-lit general store where the shelves are stocked with home goods and toiletries. We chewed on sweet potato fries and listened to a bluegrass band who began to play.

 

We wandered the rest of main street with full bellies, and found our way into a little boutique called Wanderlust where Maya bought a cute floral printed boho dress to wear with her Nashvillian cowboy boots <3.

We highly recommend visiting this beautiful country oasis on the outskirts of Nashville.

One of a kind: 

adjective meaning unique; pertaining to a singular example.

This phrase encapsulates Boo Ray. 

With his swagger, soul, and songs, we were instantly inspired by him over a delicious breakfast of buckwheat pancakes and well-done bacon had at The Family Wash, and we actually feel a little more unique ourselves just for sharing a meal with him. In a world full people trying to be like everyone else, Boo Ray is just Boo Ray and we’re thankful for that.

506 Lofts

Nashville is a really cool city. Like, really cool.

We have to admit, we didn’t always feel that way. The first few days were rough, and we were ready to pack up and get back on the highway due North. But, one night, watching the sun set over Husk restaurant, we realized that we had fallen in love. We were in love with everything–the community, the music, the passion, the down-to-earthness.

We spent four nights of our stay in Nashville at the beautiful 506 Lofts located downtown in the heart of the action, steps away from Broadway.
